Outcomes: Attendees will 1) Identify how to motivate and engage students of all backgrounds and abilities in meaningful work; 2) Analyze how specifications grading can reduce faculty time in grading while increasing mastery of course outcomes by all students, especially those from underserved populations; 3) Develop a plan for effectively organizing a course around learning objectives while adopting a format that gives students more choice and control over their learning; 4) Create a procedure for incorporating specifications grading; 5) Eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion barriers and propel students toward self-directed learning.
